                  &lt;p&gt;The train from Bulawayo to VIc Falls was ok, nothing flash, just two small bunks in a very small room, an unlockable door and a window blind that kept shooting up.  Still, it made a change from having to drive on the truck all that way.  We arrived at Vic Falls at 7am, tired and hungry, to find that bread wasn't available anywhere in town that day. We had a great, but expensive, time there.  I went on an amazing microlight flight above the falls, we both did the "Sundowner Cruise" and watched the falls from both the Zimbabwean and Zambian side, getting really wet in the process.                   &lt;p&gt;So I include Harare for one reason: our bus abandoned us here.  We were on a 32 hour bus ride that was supposed to be 24 hours long, and it was 14 hours into the trip.  This was a real African experience.  We crossed 3 borders (it's really more like 6 because it's just as hard to leave as it is to enter a country in Africa), and went over 1500 miles.  There were only 2 other white people on the bus--a lovely old Afrikans couple that were missionaries--and the rest were just normal people.  Even wealthier normal people.  This was a relitively nice (and expensive) way to travel.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Our bus ... &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

                  &lt;p&gt;As much as I love Zimbabwe, I've changed my ticket so that I can get to Nairobi a couple days sooner and thus have some more time in Zanzibar and/or Amsterdam.  I really don't want to leave, but I just need the extra couple of days elsewhere.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Anyway Harare is a clean and cosmopolitan city that's perfectly safe during the day, but a bit sketchy at night.  I decided to stay at a budget hotel in Avondale on the outskirts of the city, in what is basically an upper-middle class neighborhood.  There are certainly more whites in the neighborhood then in your typical African neighborhood, but ... &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
