This evening, Stephanie and I took Miles & Mallory back to Disney Studios. The main reason for this was for us to see Fantasmic, which would be this park’s equivalent to the evening fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.

We got to the park about 8:00, and all four of us rode several of our favorite rides again – the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and the Aerosmith Rock ‘n Roller Coaster. We used some FASTPASSes we acquired the day before to skip the long lines for these rides.

We got in line for Fantasmic about 50 minutes before the 10:30 showtime. This is a very popular show, but the ...

This morning we left Vegas and headed back into California towards Death Valley.

As we neared the national park, we kept an eye on our interior car thermometer.

When we neared the entrance sign, it had reached 109. We drove through an environment in which nothing could live for about an hour and a half, getting deeper and deeper into the Mojave. Promises of “radiator water” were popping up on signs across the deserted roads. As we neared what the map called “Badwater Basin”, the temperature was 113. We reached the lowest point in North America around two in the afternoon. At that ...

This morning we woke up early to get on the road to Boulder City, home of the Hoover Dam. It’s an architectural wonder and gives the city of Las Vegas the precious water it needs to thrive in the middle of the desert. It took us about an extra hour to get to the dam due to security checkpoints. The wait was worthwhile as the view was spectacular. The dam is much taller than we had pictured and not quite as wide.
Today was our day to check out Southern California. San Diego is a great city with many fun things to see. We started our day by visiting the Sunset Cliffs at Point Loma and taking in the stunning views of the ocean and San Diego Harbor. We toured the lighthouse and tried to catch sight of a whale but only ended up seeing the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan. Our next stop across the Coronado Bridge was the famous Hotel Del Coronado, which was featured in the book Bid Time Return and the movie Some Like it Hot. On our way out of town, we stopped by Aiberto’s restaurant to get a giant burrito. We headed ...

It is located in the middle of a large pond and shoots a large stream of water over 600 feet into the air. While driving to find it, we got a little lost… how can you not find a 600’ fountain in the flat desert landscape of Phoenix? Then we saw it. Ahead in the distance, well above the rooftops of the surrounding neighborhoods, was a giant stream of water. It was by far the oddest thing we’ve seen this whole trip.
We took an early afternoon ferry from Boston to Provincetown, on the tip of Cape Cod. To say that P-town (as the locals like to call it) was a change from Boston would be an understatement.

It consists mainly of one main street, and a few others behind it.
Santa Barbara - we realised quickly that we really should have come here for independence day. Oh well. Thats the thing about America - you keep finding lovely litle towns, and sometimes cities, which turn out to be far far better than the dodgy 1980's daytime soap opera of the same name suggested they could be. Ciara expected it to be full of rich old people with big 80’s hair & shoulder pads. Like the rich man’s Florida or something! Thankfully she was mis-informed!

The town is situated perfectly on a lovely sandy beach, with a long wooden pier, which isn't all that exciting to be ...

It was the stereotypical Calafornian beach town you'd imagine, with the waves crashing to the sandy beach which had volley ball competitions on it - complete with commentator. Skateboarders, skaters, millions of aged hippies, good looking tanned people in swimsuits and tourists all wandering about. Our first night there (we stayed two nights cause we liked it so much) we took a stroll up the boardwalk & got to see pelicans diving for dinner & some seals playing in the water. The main strip is called Pacific Avenue ...

My little ones were enthralled by the energetic young tour leaders and I couldn't believe our good luck in finding this tour. The historical information was amazingly interesting and presented in a witty and delightful way. We couldn't stop thinking about some of the stories for days afterward. Don't miss this! THANK YOU DC by FOOT. You guys are tops! It was the highlight of our trip.

The red rocks of Isla Guadalupe blazed in the morning sun, a
clear sky welcoming us after a stomach-churning 14-hour crossing. Lapping waves

one hundred fifty miles from the mainland. The water roiled as foot-high fins
sliced the surface like a knife through cerulean silk. It was a perfect day for
a dive.
"We've got a 16-footer," announced Patric Douglas, CEO of Shark Diver
at www.sharkdiver.com, the outfit leading our expedition. From beneath his
shades, Douglas beamed like a proud papa as he

They were dealing with some very important and complicated issues and making it accessible to me. Oh, and the best part was that they work completely for tips- so if you don't agree with me, then nothing lost! I don't mean to rave, but this tour compelled me. It ...

I have been to New York twice. Both times was over 10 years ago so its hard to remember what exactly I saw. Both times when I went over there was a great buzz about the city. Plenty to see and do, loads of food, cultures and a vitality I had not seen in other countried until that time.

Double decker bus tours are a must in this city as there is plenty to see. There is a downtown bus and an uptown bus.

I stayed on the island of Manhatten both times that I visited New York. First time I stayed there was with my ex boyfriend Dave and we stayed in a 10.00 a night motel which was ...

It was a glorious day and we had a usual leisurely start. After bidding our hosts farewell we headed for the second stint at Disneyworld. Our expectations from Magic Kingdom were that of some really kid focused rides. We had heard about the "Its a small world ride" and it just went on to prove that adults can enjoy the most kiddish of things. The haunted house was awesome a really fun experience, especially ...

Both the Riverwalk and The Alamo are downtown. The Riverwalk is a beautiful walk area along the river with lots of restaurants, shops, and hotels. The area is very green with plants and flowers, which is a nice break for the brown, desert, dry conditions of the rest of the city.

You can take a river tour on boats that are constantly going by filled with people. You can eat dinner on these boats also by making reservations at participating restaurants, Cafe Ole, for example, offers these "floating dinners." There are mariachi bands, especially at nighttime, that are going through the ...

Thursday 25 January

I went to the newly refurbished Pierpoint Morgan Library (they seem to prefer to be called the Morgan Library these days). I did not care for the new link connecting existing buildings (designed by Renzo Piano).
