We visited Kabale for the chimpanzees. Jane Goodall's Institute has a

member of ours.

In the morning we were instructed to tuck our pants into our socks,
preventing the dreaded safari ant from getting in, and headed out onto
the road. In the quick drive to the Chimpanzee site, we saw our first
baboons. I was so excited, to see this new species, I had never learned
their life as pests. Like incredibly intelligent raccoons, baboons will
steal, maim, ...

blackbacks, females, juveniles and a three month old baby. They
were wandering round the undergrowth feeding, and we were hacking our

The reason our itinerary included this diversion stems from the knowledge that
the World Bank has successfully ensured the erection of a new dam, near the
holy Bujagali falls, on the class five rapid Big Brother. Intended to harness
hydroelectric power for the region, the plan is yet another example of

park and from tour agencies in the area. At the swamps, you can see a lot of the primates that are in the park
and you can see them a lot easier. ...

And the first flight of the month… Entebbe, Uganda. Well we stopped in Ethiopia along the way but we did not have the opportunity to exit the plane. Uganda is in the middle of the continent and borders lake Victoria; the largest lake in Africa and the beginning of the Nile. As well it borders Kenya, and Tanzania, Rwanda, Zaire, and Sudan and, Democratic Republic of Congo, some dangerous places to visit. Despite it being one of the worlds poorest countries it was ...

(Nicks story). We were picked up at 6:30am for our 12 hour journey to Kiroso. Highlight of the trip was seeing the water flow on the equator. The water really does spin one way, south of the equator, the other way to the north and it doesn't spin at all when you are on the equator....BRILLIANT!

Lowlight was the last 3 hours on the dirt road from Kabale to Kiroso....that was hard after 9 hours. But the views were stunning.....one of the most beautiful parts of the world that I have ever seen.

and prevent more of their habitat being detroyed it is important that
many people visit Bwindi and provide money for these efforts to be

mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park which have been gotten used
to humans and can be visited by a group of no more than 6 people each
day. You are led by trackers who take you to where the gorrilas were
