We all hit it off right away, and I think everyone was relieved to have gotten paired with people who, at the very least, were going to be low maintenance and interesting to talk to for ...

The ride was only about two hours, and it was really awesome to watch the world go by. We passed through several areas that were populated, although I don't think you could really call them villages, and it looked like the same drill on a smaller scale.....women carrying stuff on their heads, mud huts, oxen ...

Thus, the place is crawling with tourists, and is pretty well set up to
cater to them. Arusha’s other main claim to fame is that it is where

Il semble que le temps s'y soit arrêté, et les petites rues étroites qui font penser à la Sicile, les mille mosquées (50 pour une si petite ville!) créent vraiment une ambiance très agréable...
Ahhh... the Zanzibar we had been waiting for!! Typcial of an Aussie to want the sun, surf and beach!! Here we had it. Both Mum & I weren't feeling well and were hanging for a dip in the ocean to help clean away the bugs.

It felt so good to be in the water - it was a little colder than I thought it would be and it was very, very salty but... for me... the beach is always a good place to be no matter where in the world. I remember feeling the same way in Mozambique and Vietnam after a dip in the ocean.

We stayed at the beach relaxing until the sun set and it became too cool ...

It is close to safari camps, easy to access, relatively inexpensive and has the allure of the exotic: spice plantations (you can smell the cloves and cinnamon), white coral beaches, a thriving Arab culture and the crystalline Indian Ocean peppered with traditional dhows and fishing boats.

Getting to Zanzibar

From Ngorongoro you will be driven back to Manyara airstrip and flown to Kilimanjaro to pick up a flight to Zanzibar Airport, on the west coast of the island. Alternately you can fly to Dar ...

Returned from safari 2 days ago. NO WORDS! Safaris to Serengeti and Great Rift Valley leave out of a northern city called Arusha, which is a 9 hour bus trip north from my town - it's near kenya. passed by Kilimanjaro on the way (I WILL RETURN) and then spent a night in Arusha with 3 volunteer friends. Took this awesome video of a lion stalking the car, one of elephant eating, and one of zebras crossing the road. Only the pictures can do it justice, truly...also saw elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, baboons...took tons of pictures and videos.

All along the edge of the rift on the valley ...

You all know that I have never done hunting of any type but going out on a hunt with people who needed to eat was a different matter.

So, we got there at 6:30am and the bushmen were just getting up and warming themselves by the fire.
