Our first day in Edinburgh, we got quite alot accomplished. For lunch, we ordered sandwiches from an upscale eatery called "Subway". I wish we had places like that in the States, real scottish submarine sandwiches made fresh while you wait. We took our fancy meal and ate in the Princes Steet Gardens, a huge part in the center of Edinburgh. While we devoured our lunches, we we entertained by an older man playing the accordian. After we finished, we gave our performer some money, got some ice cream for dessert, and began our hike up to Edinburgh Castle. It was a tough one at times, but the view ...

We arrived to Edinburgh with the following plan: hang out with sister Jean as well as long time friends (trying to avoid saying old friends). Erin's Grandfather Doug came to visit too, and we were very fortunate that our timing matched that of the famous international (Scotland AND England) Arysaig Run. The Nevis Range Mountain resort offers stunning views of the Great Glen, the Nevis Range, and of Fort William. Cloudy days are the norm according to the locals.

Not a bad wee castle........

But it was a huge rip off at 13 pounds, so we didnt bother going inside.

It has a great view of Edinburgh City though, and it is worth the hike up just there to check it out.

It would be SPECTACULAR during Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Its a long way to Edinburgh from Melbourne.

Leaving Melbourne was sad but exciting for us both. Aware of what was ahead for us, we boarded the plane. Window seat - Yeay! But the view out of Melbourne was cloudy - excitement anticipating the sunny country we were heading for.

Determined to keep ourselves awake on the flight to Singapore, we watched a movie, attempted to read books, but found ourselves playing the Singapore Airline Nintendo Super Mario game. Didn't take long, or many loss of lives for us to be board of that. Never have you seen two people more board. Short of ...
