Up at 6.30 for 7.30 ferry to Rottnest, its tricky waking and getting ready in a dorm of 10 making no noise. As we had a full day here we hired bikes for $17 to cycle round the 22km island, this would've been easy if it weren't 37c, a million flies in my face and of course the Fremantle Doctor(a really strong wind) blowing against me.

First spider sighting about 9am its huuuuuuuuge about the size of my hand and the body the size of my thumb, very very carefully approach with as much zoom as my camera will do and snap it, before cycling off quickly. Next is some little Quokkas eating in ...

Saturday 26th January and it was down with the tartan and up with the Aussie flags and my turn to be educated on all things Aussie....Happy Australia Day!

So what's it all about? Well Australia Day is celebrated every year on January 26. It marks the day in 1788 when Captain Arthur Phillip unfurled the British flag at Sydney Cove...and by god to the Aussies celebrate! There are flags everywhere...on the cars...on balconies...on flag poles and on people...even me (see the pics).

Mum and I celebrated on the patio with some traditional aussie fair and our cousins. We had a great ...

This leaves from Barrack street Pier. It is not far from Sullivan's Hotel. Just a 10 minute walk along the inland river, or a short jaunt on the Blue Cat. There are a number of really tacky restaurants there, that you can eat at. You buy a ticket and jump on the Ferry. The Ferry takes you up to Fremantle, which has some lovely craft shops and restaurants, but we were pushed for time, so we went up the river, stayed on the ferry whilst we got the load of passengers and came back to Barrack Street. there is running commentary from the skipper the entire time and it was an interesting jaunt.

were looking forward to hanging around until the pageant started. The Aussies

clearly the event of the year. They came in their droves, and every square inch

Cathy:I am always fascinated going
shopping in different countries. Well the first thing that struck me was that I
didn’t recognise any of the shops. They are strange names, and no names relate
to anything in Europe or the rest of the world. Obviously you have McDonalds
and the like, but then in Australia, Burger King is called Hungry Jacks. Not
too sure why and after our joke cracking and amusement at everything Oz, was
certainly not going to ask.

We did see a really cool alley way that reminded us of "Diagon Alley" - see the pics we included. Of course I guess Oz wouldn't be Oz ...

close to one of the main shopping districts in Perth. It is also on route of

three free buses, the Blue / Red and Yellow Cat’s. One of the Blue cat stops is
right outside the hotel so it was quick and easy for us to catch into the

comfortable and we had one that faced onto the side of the hotel at the back
near the swimming pool. It had two balconies which was a must for us smokers.

The one thing that has struck ...

We said goodbye to Ray & Alyssa today. It was such fun spending the week with them! They weren't leaving WA until Monday, so they were going to camp for a few days in the Margaret River area again. Mike & I made our way up to Perth (by way of Freemantle) to spend the night before our afternoon flight.

Initally we were going to do a night tour of Freemantle Prison. I'd heard about a torchlight tour that was offered once a week or so, and as luck would have it they were offerring it the day we were there. After reading the description, the scaredy cat in me decided the day ...

I'd recommend anyone passing through Perth to make the effort to get out to Hillarys Boat Harbour. Its a great complex which combines shopping, a theme part, a ferry to Rottnest Island but also AQWQ the largest aquarium in Australia. AQWA

The aquarium features a walk thru tunnel to view rays and sharks as well as smaller aquariums featuring the many different environments in WA from the cooler southern ocean to the tropical north.

I woke up to my normal routine with my girlfriend nudging me awake, eating breakfast and heading to work. I would return home that night to be told that after 4 years, she was going to leave me for another man and wanted to go her separate way, from here my story begins.

The next day I began the very painful procedure ...

Day one of Ozzy's wee trip actually involved work. Don't worry folks...i'm not going to bore you with all the 'touchy feely B*ll*cks work stuff' as someone I'm quite fond of calls it....but did want to share with you some of the photos and info about the stunning location.

Most of you know what I do for a living and accuse me of getting lots of jollys (its work honest!) and this isn't going to help my case much either :-)

Before heading off for the weekend I had to attend the final day of our residential Leadership Program to support some of the participants. the program was held ...

Early this morning, we pulled into Broken Hill, once the premier silver mining town in Australia. They call it a city, but the stupid thing is that it has a population smaller than Grantham or Fleet… but the size difference is huge. Suburbia is a huge thing, and you got a feeling that this was once the most important settlement in the business. Truth be told, although the town is currently undergoing some revival as a result of the discovery of more deposits than was first suspected, it still feels ...

Unfortuantely we had to sleep on the top ...

Alright folks!

So I arrived into Perth at about 11:30 pm after an eleven hour mission from cairns. I jumped into a taxi and headed for Joes house. It was crazy to see him and Amy the other side of the world! We all had a cup of tea and did some hard core catching up! The next day we were up pretty early to sort out the camper van and Joe and Amy had last minute house bits to wrap up.
We got to the airport early and I had breakfast of tuna melt and hot chocolate, yum. Our Qantas flight was really good, the food was not so great but the entertainment was good because they had lots of films on and you could choose when you wanted them on and pause them when you want too! We got the airport ...

The following morning after a great day we packed away our ...

Cape Vlamingh was particularly impressive with huge waves pounding the rocks, Little Parakeet Bay was quite the opposite, a tranquil haven.

The island is ...

decided to go to the Park Centre – a shopping centre. I looked around, as it
was cool inside the shopping centre.

· I went ...

Association) oval is right next to GloucesterPark. You always hear about
the WACA ...
