It was good to see dawn break over the circuit, but I think the pit walk on Wednesday was so much better. At that time in the morning, none of the crews were around so there wasn't that much to see.</p><p>The early start gave me time to rush round to the entrance of the paddock to see if I could bag myself some more photos and autographs. In both cities, people seemed to keep to themselves. I will say that it seemed that Sydney had more of an overt tourist presence, and so seemed more open/friendly to tourism in that way. I will say that the public transportation is more easily accessible and the city is laid out in a convenient grid. The Saturday before leaving I spent the day on a bus driving through the Great Ocean Road. Its a really windy steep drive with the most fabulous views of the ocean Ive ever seen. We stopped at some amazing beaches including Torquay the home of the famous Ripcurl and Billabong brands. We also visited the lighthouse made famous in that childhood tv show 'Around The Twist', whoever is around my age is bound to remember it. Both offer food, cheese tasting or homemade tasting platters and good quality wines. We had the advantage of a car so this was an inexpensive activity and we got to chat to the wine makers.
