It was right on the beach and had a pool. The trip must have really taken it out of us, as all we did that day was laze round the pool. The next day fully refreshed we set off............ to the pool and had a bit of a swim lol. That afternoon we dragged ourselves off to see the statue of the big buddha and its not just a clever name the statue is huge!! That night we got changed and headed off to find somewhere to eat. Daniel, on the other hand, has lost his appetite for all things Asian except for rice and fruit shakes. Unfortunately, the one thing scarier than ordering an unknown dish in a foreign place is ordering Western Style food. There is no telling what their interpretation of a western dish might be! For example, a bacon burger in Vietnam is really a ham sandwich on a hamburger style bun-no hamburger to be seen! I barely slept the prior night due to the sounds of gunshot or firecrackers. We arrived at 10:30 p.m. with no idea of the location or neighborhood other than some abbreviated information from the Lonely Planet Guide and Trip Advisor. The room at the Montien is modest at best but Daniel loves it since it is a strip mall style bungalow (4 units chained together), not part of a hotel, has a pool and sits on a beach. The beach, however, is not swimmable due to a rock or coral outcrop located not too far from shore creating a backwater lagoon. But, a short walk south brought us to an amazing beach in Central Hat Chaweng where we swam all day! We found The Boathouse Hotel’s room to be very beautiful, well laid-out, and well appointed. What I like best was that there were the big open sliding windows separating the bathroom and living room, so we can still enjoy the view from anywhere in the room.</p><p>We spent the first half of the day at Cheong Mon beach where our hotel was situated, before deciding it was time to travel to Chaweng Beach. Cassie decided to sleep in and try and shake the major "tourist rash", while I read on the porch. When she had rolled out of bed around 10am we both were just ready to get on with the day... We made a few phone calls home to realize that it was valentines day!! We couldn't believe for two birds in so much love, that we had forgotten completely (hahaha)!!</p><p>We started the day by mopeding down a dirt road to this total mysterious building!! Luckily had a couple of DVDs on the laptop to relax to...for those who havent watched Syrania do so. Its a superb film...</p><p>Time passed by and the sun rose. Breakfast was added to by the amazing view over the Gulf of Thailand and Chewang.</p><p>I jumped on the bike and headed for Lamui Beach. Stopped off at Thai Beach Resort (which is where I should have been staying) for a morning coffee and then soaked up some rays on this beautiful stretch of beach. Of course at the time I did not know just how extensive it would be! At 9:30am I boarded a long tail boat to Krabi. From there I waited a half hour for a mini bus which to me to a waiting area for the bigger bus. There I waited another half hour and then boarded the bus for the pier. Except this bus didn't take us to the pier. Instead it took us to a waiting area where we were told another bus would take us the rest of the way. One night was definetely enough with being bombarded by tuk tuk drivers who didn't speak any english and just wanted to take you places that you didn't want to go.
