Breakfast was okay and I snagged a cute little map of Athens at the front desk before Michelle and I went out exploring. We asked where the nearest market was and the woman at the front desk pointed out an area quite a ways from the hotel.</p><p>But we were full, lathered with sunscreen and hungry for fruit. Athens is different in the way that there aren't grocery stores with fresh fruit just around the corner. It would sometimes take a few minutes off to chase a cat or argue with the other dogs, but would always catch up with us in spite of our evasive maneuvers. We went through the back door of a restaurant to ditch it, but the dog still found our room a little while later. Fortunately, it gave up on us sometime during the night. The sandstone is very solid but easy to carve. We explored extensive caves that were used as catacombs and we also explored several more that we encountered along the trails. It was fairly common for someone to have a cave next to their house to serve as a garage or storage unit.</p><p>We saw the cave where Venus De Milo was found a number of years ago. They tied a rope to her and dragged the incredible statue across the rocks to their ship. The arms fell off along the way, but who cares? They didn't bother to go back and get them. It's a big island and a car is typically recommended. Of course, we walk more than the average tourist, so we walked all over Naxos. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, and the room was exceptional with 2 bathrooms, marble floor, private outdoor jacuzzi, and amazing views. The staff was great, and the service excellent! The restaurant was incredible (a bit overpriced, but so good!) and the food was fresh! The pool was so much bigger than the ones we saw in surrounding hotels. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for an amazing experience in Santorini! We got off the ferry and found our hotel shuttle driver holding a sign. We followed him to the van and threw all our stuff in and got in to drive to Perissa. We got half way up the hill when the driver remembered another ferry with guests was coming in, in another 20 minutes and he wouldn’t have enough time to drive us over and come back. My flight got in at about 2pm. I got off the plane and made it down to baggage claim and collected my suitcase. I went through immigration which was again a joke; they didn’t even check my passport. But I got out to the main airport and took the sky bridge to the train tracks and bought a ticket to the city. I walked down and hung out and waiting for the train to leave. The border guards smiled at us and all seemed reasonably efficient. Thats until we arrived three hours late into Greece's second city of Thessaloniki. Expecting a nice leisurely turnaround to Athens we instead had 10 minutes to purchase tickets and get to the platform before it departed. We had to take a bus to get to our hotel. We checked in at our hotel, then went to the National Archaelogical Museum.
