When I arrived in São Paulo, I just took the Metro there to the place where Lilian lived. Lilian, a travel friend I met in Buenos Aires, is a Brazilian and studies in São Paulo. She invited me to crash at her place while I was staying in São Paulo.

She lived with three other girls in a place very convenient to the metro. Her other roommates Bea, Juliana and Bruna were also a lot of fun and the best was that they all spoke quit good English :-) So my three days in São Paulo ended up to be a very fun time.

They all introduced me to many Brazilian dishes and tradition. Some examples ...

Sunday I took a bus towards south ... hopefully I would have better weather down there. Brazil has so many beautiful beaches and I wanted to enjoy at least one of them!

So I took a bus to Paraty, a little town with easy beach access through public buses. It just sounded really nice and perfect for me to chill out ... my last couple of days here in South America I wanted to relax and just put up my tent at one of the beautiful beaches ... well, that was my plan anyway ... and then came the reality or should I say the weather ...

When I arrived in Paraty, it was raining cats and dogs ...

After a 24h bus ride I arrived in Rio de Janeiro. The bus ride was actually lots of fun ... a Girls Volleyball team from Sweden and a Boys Soccer team from São Paulo in one bus. You can imagine, that that combination was just entertainment pure ;-) ... who wanted to sleep anyway? Too bad, that the boys got of the bus in São Paulo ... the last 6 hours of the ride were kind of boring ...

The landscape was first still green and almost flat, later it became more and more hilly and even more greener ... while we drove through São Paulo I saw very poor neighborhoods. Some sheds were build ...

from a trip to Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro.

All of that pretty much worked as planned, except that when it got to Niteroi we had to pay 60% of the cost of the camera!!! ...

Foz do Iguaçu, Brasil.

What a wonderful day full of adventure and awe. We were picked up from the hotel at 8.30 by the loveliest guide called Carlos and driven to the heliport for our short but wonderful flight over the Foz do Iguaçu. Just Sheila and myself went up. from a trip to Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul.

I didn't sleep the night before. I was too excited, or maybe worried about the journey to come. I had never been away from my life for so long, so far. Was very nervous that it is gonna be a terrible journey...

I reached KLIA at about 10am to get my ticket and check-in my luggage. Jie sent me as she needs to get to KLIA Cargo to get her package. Said goodbye to her and walked straight to MAS Golden Lounge. I was so lucky that I bump into Shangker & Prakash (from Commercial dpt) - they are on the same flight with me! Boarded the MH4 flight at around 12.30pm and the hell journey begins!

Ilha Grande was our rest and relaxation destination. We were here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. The island is a couple of hours from Rio, and only accessible by ferry.

Our first task was to find a hotel. Angelica wandered down the beach looking at each pousada (hotel), while Anna and Mark played in the surf. While Angelica was walking back, Anna started to run towards her at the edge of the water. While Anna was focused on Ange, a friendly street dog and big wave met her at the same time. It scared her so much that for the rest of our stay she wouldn't go anywhere near the water ...

Arrived in Sao Paulo around 9 am and hopped in a cab to head to the Downtown SP Hostel. We stayed in a private room with a private bath and a good size. Once we got into our room we dropped our bags to head out into the city for the day. We did a full day walking tour that included things such as the praca de se and a few beautiful historical churches. At the praca de se they had a small band playing music that the locals sat and watched. There were people laying by the fountain enjoying the day and the sounds of the water as it splashed and continued to make the constant comforting sound. We ...

We started out tour of the Iguacu Falls national park by visiting the Itaipu Dam which was the largest dam in the world until China got to work on one apparently. It's a joint venture between Paraguay and Brazil. It's so big it provides Paraguay with 90% of its electricity and Brazil with 25%.

After that we joined the twitchers at the Bird Park. This was a great place and we saw virtually every kind of parrot and toucan that exists.

We were then set for the main event: The Iguacu Falls. Today we were seeing them from the Brazilain side but we would get much closer and even in them ...

From the moment that we got off of the bus we loved it because the atmosphere just screamed of vacation. We stayed at the most adorable posada that had a hammock in the front area. We dropped our bags and headed out to conquer this town in about 36 hours. We took a walk down to the beach and decided to have lunch at one of the restaurants on the water. For this particular lunch we ordered the whole fried fish. The words I must use to describe it ...

The price of the holiday was reasonably quite good considering the quality of the hotel thrown in and the winter ...
